The Brand New 2021 Ford Bronco

BRONCO RIDES AGAIN

Way back in 1966, Ford introduced its original SUV and cut a trail to the great outdoors that would be followed by generations of Americans. And now, Bronco is coming back, strapped with thrilling power and go-anywhere capability, uniquely equipped to carry true adventure seekers deep into the wild and untamed places their souls long to be.

RETURN TO BAJA

Fifty years ago, the Ford Bronco was driven to an overall victory in the grueling 1969 Mexican 1000 – a feat that no other 4×4 has been able to duplicate. To honor their remarkable win, the Ford Bronco will once again return to the desert to test an all-new Bronco R racing prototype in the punishing 2019 Baja 1000.

Q: What is the difference between the Bronco 2-door, 4-door and Bronco Sport?

A: Ford designed each Bronco for a different purpose while maintaining the idea that each model should be Built Wild. The Bronco 2-door is iconic. it picks up where the Bronco left off back in 1996 and is ready to get back out into the wild. The Bronco 4-door was designed to bring you closer to nature. It provides the most open-air experience by having a removable roof and doors without anything obstructing your view. In fact, the 4-door configuration features best-in-class 2nd-row and overall openness with the top removed. The side-view mirrors were intentionally put on the frame of the vehicle so when you remove the doors you keep your visibility.  The Bronco Sport is the new kid on the block. Smaller than the 2 and 4-door variation, the Sport is a rugged SUV that is designed to bring you into the wild so your adventure can get started.

Q: What are the transmission and engine options?

A: Bring on the power. The Bronco will get the option of either the 2.7L EcoBoost estimated to produce best-in-class 310 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, or the 2.3L EcoBoost with 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. For transmission options, there will be either a 7-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic transmission. When it comes to getting off the beaten path, 4X4 is the only option.

The Bronco Sport is its own beast and as such will get its own engine options. The two offerings are either a 1.5L EcoBoost or a larger 2.0L EcoBoost which will be standard on the Badlands trim. Either engine option will be paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. The Bronco Sport was also designed to help you enjoy the call of the wild and all trims will receive 4X4 and either 5 or 7 G.O.A.T modes (Goes Over All Types of Terrain). Standard G.O.A.T modes include sand, slippery, sport, eco and normal while the Badlands trim will also get rock crawl and mud/ruts.

Q: Tell me more about the off-road features?

A: It starts with 4X4. It doesn't matter what configuration you choose, the entire lineup is equipped with 4X4. Whether you'd prefer to throw it in 4A or you want to shift on the fly, the Bronco delivers. To take on tough terrain, you will want a tough tire, so Ford is offering a segment-first 35" tires with Beadlock-capable wheels. These wheels will be available on all models and provide a best-in-class ground clearance of 29 centimetres (11.6") for the 2 and 4-door models. If you're going to get some dirt on your vehicle, you're probably going to end up with flying debris, so bash plates are a must. The best-in-class maximum suspension travel is paired with Trail Stability Control to offer stability during aggressive off-roading. Whether you prefer the traditional Bronco or the Bronco Sport both are ready to splash in some puddles. The Bronco has water-fording capability up to 85 centimetres (33.5") and the Bronco sport offers 23.6". The 2 and 4-door models offer best-in-class departure (37.2 degrees) and breakover  (29 degrees) angles. Depending on the trim, there is an off-road hero switch pack that allows you to control your off-road experience with just the click of a button. These features include sway bar disconnect, front and rear differential lock, trail turn assist, electronic stability control, and hazard lights.
